On call went well. Just asked a few residents to close their door because it was after quiet hours. Overall it seemed way too quiet in the dorm. =P

On Call 2/26
I really can't get over how quiet last night was in the building, it feel like more than half of the building like dissappeared for the weekend, which is always nice. I ended up going to my office hour a lil early and stayed for about two hours so I could update the events calander for March and post a new birthday bulletin board for March Birthdays. Residents kept stopping by and saying hello as they passed through and I had a visit from Ryan and Cynthia. My rounds were really quiet as usual no activity going on in the building at all. All in all it was a good friday night on call.

On Call 2/24
Wednesday night on call went well. We had the Modern Warefare Tournament at 8 and the residents seemed to really enjoy it. I even got in on the playing...and I stink at playing that game! My rounds were farely quiet spoke to one room in B tower about turning the light off in the hallway and also returned a lost ID. That was pretty much the extent of the night another successful evening in Aldrich.

On Call 2/22
My on call night went pretty well. During office hours Ryan and I held our Taboo Night program. Overall, the program was pretty successful since we did have several participants. My rounds were alright. Nice and quiet, however, around 12 the building was hit by a silent but deadly smell >_< A skunk sprayed probably nearby and it smelled like skunk for a little while. I must say, it was pretty gross. Other than that, everything went well.

On Call 2/17 & 2/18
So again I forgot to post a blog for my on calls, the good news is I wrote posting promptly as one of my goals on my evaluation so hopefully I will begin to remember. Anyways, so last Wednesday and Thursday were very quiet on calls. I had nothing out of the ordinary go on for my office hours. Gave out some toilet paper had to ask for some doors to be closed during the 11 o'clock hours. On my Wednesday night on call I had a resident come to my room really concerned about the fact that she had just gone through the interviewing process to become an RA for next year and on the day when she went to sign up for interview times, she was never instructed to sign up for the individual interview so in turn when the interview times happened she only went to a group interview. She ended up finding out after the fact that other people went to individual interviews. Anyways I told her to be optimistic and told her I would pass along that she was concerned and followed up to see if anything could be done to help her problem. During my office hours for my Thursday night on call we had the fitness program led by Ben and Marcin. While it did not start out with a bang orignially because of the lack of people in attendance, it ended well. I think Ben and Marcin did a phenomenal job and it was a good program. So now that I have written an essay length of a blog I will stop. And I will DEFINITELY remember to blog on Wednesday after my next on call. ...lets hope :)

On Call 2/21
Another fairly quiet evening. Somebody stopped by in the OH for some TP again, and Ben came in for a sponge because some hooligans drew on his car with window paint. I left the office and did the bathroom checks, then waited a while and did my first round. Upon approaching the upper levels of A Tower, there was a distinct odor in the air so I went and fetched Ben to check it out. Neither of us could tell where it was coming from or who was responsible for it, so I just kept an eye on things throughout the rest of the evening. The other rounds were quiet and easy.

On Call 2/13
Sorry for the late blog post, but the on call Saturday night was absolutely silent. I think I only saw 1 or 2 people all night and maybe heard 3. Nobody stopped in in the office, and rounds were simple.

On Call 2/16
On call last night was definitely louder than the previous night. Everyone seems to have come back from there nice three day weekend. During my office hours, Ryan and I held our Mardi Gras Program. It was fun and we made nice masks and talked about the history or Mardi Gras. During my rounds I had to ask people to lower their volume. I also rented out some vacuums. Other than that, everything went pretty well.

On Call 2/15
So last night's on call was extremely peaceful and quiet. It felt like there was no one here. I did hear a little ruckus around 1am, but it was just the sound of people going upstairs. Other than that, everything was good.

On Call 2/12
Hey Friends,
Last night was pretty quiet. Around 12, a resident from C-Tower came requesting a penis blanket, I mean, a condom. I gave him the goods and he went on his merry way to potentially fornicate =)
I was expecting to find the A-Tower door propped, but to my dismay it twas not. I saw Molly come back which was nice, even though she really didn't feel like talking =(
Enjoy the weekend homies

On Call 2/11
Well folks, it was a pretty quiet night, which was weird, because this is the first Thursday night this semester where the building did not turn into a jungle. During the office hour I handed out some TP, and someone came and moved into A400's, so I hooked him up with a key and filled out his RCR and such. Rounds were really quiet, but the light on the second floor of the B tower stairwell was pretty much out and doing a slow-flicker kind of deal which was really creepy. I thought for sure that a zombie was going to pop out from one of the suites to get me. Luckily John has fixed the problem today, so no more zombies in Aldrich. Also, this is probably irrelevant, but C tower smelled like mustard all night. I don't know why. The A tower door was propped again, so I dealt with that... had to close a couple of doors after 11 and deal with a bag of trash in the hallway but aside from those small inconveniences the building was quiet and everything went pretty smoothly.

On call February 10
Last nights on-call went very smoothly. My office hour was for the most part quiet updated some white boards for programs and what not. Ryan swung by to report a leak in his room, which I concluded was weather related but then realized he wasn't on the top floor. When I was leaving my office hour I talked to a bunch of residents who were coming back in from the basketball game after such a disappointing loss. I did also take note at this time that a lot of people were coming into the building. Lots of residents had friends with them. This made me a little bit nervous about what kind of events would be taking place for the night, but luckily not a thing happened. During one of my rounds I noticed another leak in the building on the fourth floor of A tower in the stairwell, which wasn't anything major just a slow drip. This time I know it was def from the moisture on the roof getting in and dripping around the pipe. I put it into get it for someone to take a look at today. Other than that my rounds went well had to have some doors closed at 11, and talked to some residents about how they enjoyed the snow day. I think everyone agreed that it was a nice unexpected break. I really was hoping for another today, but its nice to dream. Back to reality, praying I don't wipe out too badly today on the ice covered campus.

On Call 2/9
Hey Boys and Girls
Last night was uneventful. The staff meeting made me feel warm and fuzzy. Afterwards, things were pretty quiet. I got some trash bags and TP for a couple residents. Once school was canceled there were some rambunctious few out the in the backyard but things remained sane in Aldrich. Enjoy yer day off

On Call 2/8
Last night's on call went well. No one came in to visit during office hours. During one of my rounds, I happened to hear rather loud yelling noises. Fearing it was something terrible happening, I ran to the other side. It turned out to be this one girl yelling because her friend was tickling her. Well I told them to quiet down and they complied. Other than nothing, nothing too extreme happened.

On Call 2/7
So last night was the Superbowl, and let me just start off by saying: what a game. I must say, however, and some of my residents agreed with me, that the commercials this year were sub-par. Nothing too out of the ordinary or entertaining, which was a big let down. The office hour was really quiet, I handed out a few rolls of toilet paper. Also, I saw that there was a message on the phone so I checked it, and it was the campus police dispatcher who had called earlier that morning and wanted a call returned, so I called x2121 to see what was up. The dispatcher at that point couldn't find anything too serious in the log, so he said it must have just been that they wanted some cars moved from out of the front of the building. After this I got back to watching the game. I decided that I would just watch the entire second half in the office because I did not feel like going back up to my room yet. So I did. Once the game was over, I went back up to my room and did bathroom checks. Rounds were uneventful, had to talk to just a couple of rooms in A tower about noise later on. I had a lockout at about 11, did my last round at 12:15 or so, then fell into slumber.
-Spiz
PS. Also during my office hour I tried logging into deskstaff to check all my residents in, but it seems to be down. Just tried again and it is still down/not operational. Just a heads up.

On Call February 6
So I am a total space cadet and forgot to post a blog for my on call on Wed. The good news is you didn't miss anything because not a thing went on. Last night however was a different story. My office hour was dead. My first round was also very quiet. I got a phone call at about 9:45 for a lock out, so I went and handled that. At about 11 I was about to go do my next round when I heard a very loud constant banging on a door, and a girl legitimately screaming at the top of her lungs not very nice things and for someone to open the door. I ran out of my room quick around the corner and found two of my female residents both crying, but one literally sobbing in the middle of an anxiety attack. Her whole body was shaking, and when she saw me she started crying harder and hugged me when I asked her if everything was ok. I told them to step away from the other persons door and they followed me out to the hall way that connects b tower to c tower. The girls started to tell me what was wrong but they were really worked up, very distraught and loud so I told them to come into my room to talk. I felt really bad for them, I gave them both tissues and told them to just take some deep breaths and calm down. The girls sat on my bed for about an hour or so and I let them vent about what was going on. They were in the middle of a he said she said argument with one of their close friends and another boy who is my resident. I talked the girls down and tried to give them some advice. When they finally got everything out I told them that it would be best to just sleep on it and wake up tomorrow with a clear mind about their situation. They were extremely appreciative for my help and I sent them off with one of my DVD's to borrow to just watch and relax for the rest of the night. After they left it was about 12:30 and I did a round and the building was quiet. I went back to my room finished up my homework and did a third round at about 1:30 before I went to bed. It was a strange night. I checked in on the girls this morning and they definitely have a clearer mind today and are handling their argument much more calmer.

On Call 2/5
So the on call went well. I didn't see many people during my office hours, but this one guy did peek in with a super red face and then ran away. My rounds went well, nothing really to report, but it was loud at one point in the A tower stairwell. I told them to turn down their volume and the complied. Other than that, everything went smoothly.

On Call 2/4
Yo, so last night was eventful
During the tail end of my office hour, Spiz stopped by and needed my assistance with completion of fire inspections. We arrived at B400B to do the inspection but were struck by the odor of marijuana. Upon entering the room, the smell was obvious and the resident knew it. To make a long story short, the resident and 3 other lady friends were toking up on the balcony and Spiz and I wrote them up.
While writing up the narrative, I shut the power off on the computer so we had to re-write it. A resident from C401 came to the office and remarked that her toilet was overflowing and Spiz took care of that
I returned to my room and did some reading. Just before midnight the fire alarm went off because some girls were lighting birthday candles and apparently they produced dangerous amounts of smoke...regardless, the fire trucks eventually showed up and I went back to my room. Got washed up and noticed I missed calls from Molly. He toilet was also having difficulties and she smelled pot at the bottom of B-Tower. I checked out the bottom of b-tower but there were no signs as to where the smell was coming from, it must have lingered. After a quick check with Molly, I finished my last round and went to bed around 1.
Love, Ben

On Call 2/2
Hey Y'all
Last night was cute. Spiz came to my cave and told me that a resident remarked on the smell of pot in his suite. We ventured down to B300 to check things out. The hallway spelt quite dank yet we were unsure as to which room the smell was coming from. We checked in with Marcin and agreed that there wasn't enough dirt (i.e. seeing a high resident and actually hearing them talk about being high etc) to enter a specific room. I recommend keeping an eye on the area and seeing if things are more obvious than they appeared last night. Otherwise, things seemed quiet.

On Call 1/31
Another really quiet night in Aldrich. During the office hour I handed out some toilet paper. After the office hour I went and did my bathroom checks and reminded the rooms that still hadn't written their names on the sheet to do so. Rounds were uneventful, done at 10, 11:30, and 12:10. Just had to ask a few rooms to shut their doors after 11. A tower door was propped again with the trash can from the bathroom, then with a bottle cap, so those were removed. That's about it for the evening.
