On call went well. It started off a little noisy. I pretty much just hung out in the office most of the night. I had pizza with some of my residents, which was really nice. At 2am I had a lock out, which was lovely, but other than that, it was pretty okay.

On Call 12/8
On call went interestingly. The auction was really fun. Afterwards, Mike, Ryan, and I went to feed the little duckies in the pond. They didn't seem to like the crackers too much. After that, I went to unlock a room for a resident. Saw some not very nice words displayed on the fire door regarding me. Good thing it was written in chalk.. Makes me feel a little depressed that people don't like me that much. Ummm.. other than that, the rest of the night went well.

So I got stuck in Quonset last night and was late to my on call. You can't really just leave drill early, so when the First Sergeant said he messed up and the briefings weren't going to start until 1900 I knew I was fucked. Anyway thank you Elise for covering for me. When I got back the rest of the night was fine.

On call 11/13
Well Saturday night on call went much more smoothly than Friday night for sure. My office hours were quiet. I saw Ryan who showed me his new coat. It looked very nice on him. The rest of the night was quiet. I delivered a few roses and my rounds went well. So this morning I woke up to find the vending machine blocking the RA office. But since I was so strong and mighty, I was able to move the machine out of the way. Haha nahh I had help from a resident. But yeah.. It must have happened between 2am and 8am. Mm but other than that, everything was okay. There was no damage.

first day of novemeber! and first day of hell week. i've been having exams every week - this week two, we'll see how that all goes. i miss mom and dad.. they are coming on sunday though :) I left the staff meeting (with no id - thanks kenny) to come back to 3 residents looking for space heaters, of course the 4 left - two did not work. mike and ryan came to my rescue and brought over some from burnside though. i tried to spend time in the office doing work but did not get anything done. a fwe more residents came down to get space heaters. i did my rounds, all quiet, except for my c tower residents who love to play old school usher love songs etc. they were harmless though just told them to turn it down to respect quiet hours. all and all the night went well - im going to be exhausted this week so excuse the tired look on my face.

Saturday on-call. I brought down all my homework for my office hour, but instead talking on the phone with my parents for over an hour. It was good talking to them :) can't wait to see them when i go home for thanksgiving. I un-propped some doors on my first round, and by my last two rounds the place was dead besides some people walking to the front to pick up food delivered. it was incredibly hard for me to stay awake for this on-call, probably just the lack of sleep from the week catching up with me. I passed out fast after my last round then got a nice extremely loud knock on my door around 2am because someone locked themselves out. The girl felt bad waking me up, but she was very sweet. after that i climbed right back into bed and the night was good after that!

On call 10/12
So last night was fun. Before my office hours even began, I started hearing a lot of hustle and bustle downstairs. Therefore, I went downstairs to make sure everything was okay. I heard a lot of banging in one room and clinking as well so I just knocked and told them to bring out the alcohol. After a few minutes of awkward silence, the room owner inally coughed the alcohol bottle up. I brought all 4 (should have been 5) students downstairs and proceeded to write them all up. So that was fun. I realized I ran out of forms and ran over to Burnside to get some more. Elise was there =) anyways.. So I kept hovering around A300 and B201 area since those were the only loud areas. I just told everyone to keep it down. After the concert, everyone was initially quite loud but then suddenly became quiet and nothing else happened for the rest of the night.

Columbus day! since there was no staff meeting tonight, I attended the pumpkin painting program in burnside and brought the aldrich phone with me, did some landuary, as I was going down to get my landuary out and start my 11oclock round, two residents had troubles with their toilets, one actually completely overflowed - I called Shelly just to see if there was anything else we could do about it until the morning. This is the second time I know of that someones toilet has overflowed. I unpropped some doors, everyone had their doors shut for quiet hours, overall it was a relaxing night.

Pretty much everyone went home for the 3-day weekend, so the building was pretty quiet. I went over to Burnside and hung out with Elise for most of the night. If you ever get a chance go for a walk/run on the Kingston bike path ... all of the leaves are changing colors and there's a massive field of pumpkins a half mile from the parking lot. It's also perfect running weather. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

On call 10/8
On call initially was pretty slow. Office hours were very quiet. No one came to the office hours until the very end of the hour. It was my two B tower residents that wanted to use the kitchen. I let them in and as soon as they went inside, I heard a loud clink. It turned out one of them dropped a glass bowl on the floor. Kathryn was the unfortunate one who got the bowl dropped on. I got them a broom and pan and Christina swept up while I ran upstairs to get my first aid kit. I gave Kathryn an alcohol wipe and then a bandaid and ointment. She was completely fine and laughing about the situation but then a few minutes later, she looked down and saw that I had already bled throughthe bandaid so I gave her some gauze. She's okay though and finished cooking their Mac and cheese. The rest of the night went smoothly and nothing else happened.

On call 10/6
So my on call was very entertaining. I spent my office hours with Ryan and Mike. Originally we were all going to help Ryan with his homework but of course, we got side tracked and spent our time browsing the Internet. Mike thought it would interesting to google everyones name. I turned out to be an artist or office person, Mike was an artist and Rachael was just Rachael. Ryan had an interesting website called Ryansullivanisland.com.. And well it was basically this guy making videos. The first one we watched was this weird "scary" movie. Browsing through more.. Well the further we browsed, the more graphic it became. So we quickly closed that page and laughed it off. Other than that, the rest of my night was not as entertaining. All the residents behaved and nothing happened.

ryan spent some of my office hour with me, yelling woot woot every 5 seconds- real attractive noise, if any of you dont believe me you shoud spend a half hour listening to him yell it at a TV. staff meeting tonight! just like every other monday night. Something I'm very happy about: cynthia and I finally got our online program eval to work.. good work cynthia! 5th times a charm ;) As for rounds, I did one after we completed the eval and people were playing music with doors open and stuff before 11 so nothing big, someone had a rug outside in their hall I told them they had to bring it in. Ummm.. last round was quiet, ryan did A&B tower with me. I checked bathrooms as I walked through C. The night was quiet though and I slept like a baby in my big bed with a cold. Matt's mom woke me up with a nice phone call in the morning - which I'm actually very thankful for because I needed to shower before class and I would not have woken up otherwise.

10/03/10
Typical Sunday night. I stayed in the office for a bit and learned Army running cadences, so if you're woken up at 6AM by somebody running by your balcony singing/yelling cadences, it just might be me. I hope everyone had a good weekend.

10/01/10
I stayed in the office for most of the night finishing my bulletin board, doing program proposals, and cleaning up a bit. A lot of people went out around 11. Around 3AM the URI Police called asking for the date of birth of one of our residents. He hung up before I could ask if there was a problem, but it was likely none of my business anyway (Shelly let me know if you think otherwise). Enjoy the weekend.

On Call Saturday, 10/2/10
Living the dream Saturday night on call. During my office hour I hung out with Rach-El well I wouldn't consider it hanging out Rach-El was just hitting on me the entire office hour. After my hour was done I unpropped a few doors during my rounds and talked with a few residents also. During my on call I set my fantasy football lineup for Sunday football and fantasy baseball along with the Red Sox season has come to an end :( Overall my on call wasn't to scabby.

On call went well. Saw mike and Ryan in the office. Helped Ryan a little with his community development and regular bulletin board. He's helping with my resident of the month board as well ^_^ other than that, the rest of the night went pretty well.

On call went pretty well. Hung out with mike and Ryan for a bit and finished my bulletin board. It came out pretty nice. Didn't really see any residents, except on my round. Everything went smoothly though.

On Call Tuesday, 9/28/10
On call went pretty smooth if I do say so myself. During my office hour listened to music and I tried to figure out how to make my fantasy football team better, my record stands at 1-3 which doesn't cut it. I am torn on who to start for this coming week I have to pick 3 running backs out of Steven Jackson, Beanie Wells, Peyton Hillis, LaDanian Tomlinson, and LeSean McCoy. During my rounds I unpropped a couple doors and had one lockout.
P.S. I finally invested in black shirts, 40 dollars worth to be exact.

sorry late posting - Lets see.. I got out of office hours and talked to one of my residents who is a senior, he was waiting for friends, but it was great talking to him, did that for about a half hour so i was late starting my first ronud - on first round people were playing music with their doors open and stuff so I said hi. On second round some residents had their door open playing apples to apples and asked if I wanted to play, thought that was cute, and by third round the place was quiet. Oh and I think I had two lockouts - one of my C tower residents is getting very close to having too many lockouts now I think.

On Call Friday, 9/24/10
Being on call on a Friday night bummer :( My office hour I just watched youtube and a little tv. On my first round I talked to a few residents and told them to close their doors for 11pm. In between rounds I watch Community one of my new favorite shows on HULU. Then my second round not a soul was to be found I guess everyone went out. And on my finally round it was pretty quiet as well. My Friday on call could have been worse. Then in the morning after my on call I went home for the day to see my family and all my brothers and sisters!! My weekend overall was solid.
P.S. I have begun to use the word bro in everyday conversation and find it hilarious.

During my first round, I reminded the residents to close there door at 11 and during my next two rounds, all the doors were closed and everyone was pretty quiet.

We had a staff meeting, lasted til 10:30, then Ryan was very nice and did rounds with me, there were a bunch of people with doors open so I stopped in and said hi. Mike tried to make me tuck him into bed. Then Ryan locked himself out of his room. We should write him up. Last round was veryy quiet, Ryan also accompanied me with that round too.

On Call Tuesday, 9/21/10
On Call was not very entertaining. I sat in the office with Mike and we just hung out like the best friends we are. A few people needed toilet paper and I complied. Then Rach-El stopped by and was hitting on us. Then I went on my round and stopped to talk to a few residents who had their doors open. Then on my next two rounds nothing happened and no lockouts! I love it. So all in all my on call was just another brick in the wall.

On call 9/19
So my on call night started off pretty fun. I saw Mike in the office during my on call and thought he was just there yo hang out. After about 10-15 minutes, he was puzzled and asked me why I was in the office. I told him I was on call and then he said.."no, I'm on call" and I said "no we switched, remember?" and he said.."oh noooo! Crap, now what am I going to do?" well after a little while, mike just went back to his room and I finished my office hours. During my rounds I had residents asking for some toilet paper. Other than that, nothing else really happened. It was a good night.

Not much happened last night. I had 3 lockouts within an hour before my on call even started, but that's about the most contact I had with residents all night. On my second round I ran into Matt who said he had to talk to a room in C-Tower about noise. I eventually made my way over there and everything was fairly quiet.

On Call Thursday, 9/16/10
My on call was pretty fun last night. During my office hour me and Mike messed with Rachael but what else is new. Also during my office hour I set my preliminary fantasy football lineup for the upcoming weekend. I am also in a fantasy baseball league and one of my favorite players Troy Tulowitzki has been red hot lately this past month he is 35/100 with 27 runs, 14 homers, 36 RBIs while sporting a .343 batting average...I think I am in love just don't tell Rachael. My first round was good I said Ciao! (hello in italian) to some of the residents that had their doors open. Then on my second round nothing much happened, and same for my final round. I was also lucky enough to not have any lockouts.

During my on call, nothing too much happened. I had a few lockouts during my office hours and at about 1:30AM I had one of Rachaels residents come to my door asking forba bandage to wrap her wrist. I did not so I went down and asked Matt. He did not gave anything so I went and asked Shelly. That was when I found out we could not provide first aid to residents. I went back and asked if the resident wanted to call an ambulance, but she did not so I ended up getting her an ice pack. The next day she told me she had gone to health services and got a wrap for her wrist and everything was okay.

On Call Tuesday, 9/14/10
On Call was pretty boring not many people where around and the building was very quite. On my first round I talked to some of the residents and B tower door was propped open. During my 11 o'clock round I didn't see anyone except two kids going back to there room. And on my final round nothing again Tuesday's are very quiet I guess. Well that's about it this is probably my worst blog of the year thus far :(

On Call Monday, 9/13/10
First staff meeting tonight woohoo! I spent my office hours in the lounge watching speeding dating - a very successful program if I may add. Got back to good ole' Aldrich at 10 and did a round, everyone was quite, some open doors but it was not quiet hours yet. By the time I did my next round the place was dead - gotta love Monday nights. All and all it was a quiet night and I finally saw no trash outside rooms.

Wow.. so I was the lucky RA that got to be on call on the first weekend of the school year heh. Well overall the night wasn't too bad.. During my first few rounds, there were many residents running around the building ( mostly girls). They were basically trying to get ready to gobout.. Well I was kept pretty busy throughout the whole night.. I had about three, four, or five lockouts. It kinda started to blur together after three. Mm.. Around 2am, it got really loud so I went to investigate. It turned out to just be the girls who were coming back from wherever they went. I was worried when these one group of girls ran into the bathroom together.. But it turned out that they just all needed to pee really badly and didn't bother to close the door >.< well other than that, I was woken up a few times to unlock doors, but the night wasn't too bad..

Not a bad night. I stayed in the office until about 10 and had one lockout. Most people went out between 10-11, so by 11 the building was pretty dead. I had to unprop the A-Tower door a couple times, but other than that things went pretty smoothly.

On Call 9/8/10
On call went pretty well last night. During my office hours, Mike and Ryan were both there. They hung out in the lounge for a while. Then around 930ish, I went on my first round and they both tagged along with me. It was really fun since we just popped into most of our resident's rooms and introduced ourselves. Some of the rooms were decorated extremely nicely. These one girls' room was absolutely beautiful. Well then after that round, Mike went to his room to sleep and Ryan vamoosed as well. Then Anjila came over and we had a little spa night in the lounge. Then at around 11 I went for my second round. Most of the doors were already closed and it was pretty quiet. By my third round at 1, everyone seemed like they were sleeping so the night ended well.

My first real on call as a Aldrich RA. The night started off with the all hall meeting which went over well. Then I had my office hour and hungout with my man Mike. We played wiffle ball and shared a few tears and laughs. Following my office hour were my rounds the first round was ok a few residents might be tone def because of the music volume. The second round I told some residents to close their doors and the girl residents commented on my good hair day. My final round was dead quiet except for one lockout which wasn't a big deal. Overall, it was an experience of a life time.

September 6, 2010
My first real on call was tonight! I finished up editing resident pictures in the office then went for my first round at 9:00pm. I stopped in some rooms and said hello to some residents and asked how moving in went and everything. A lot of people had their doors open, which I was real happy about because I liked the idea that they were all being social with each other. However, with having open doors, the music travels much further so I had to tell some people to turn down the music a little. On my second round at 11:00pm, the towers were a lot quieter, and I only had to knock on a couple doors to tell them to move the trash that was in the hallway back into their rooms or in the dumpsters. One room thought that the ‘common room’ area was free game for storing their stuff; they were disappointed when I said they had to move all the boxes back into their room. I also had to tell some people to shut their propped doors for the night because it was 11:00pm. I closed the building entrance doors that were propped multiple times. Then on my third round at 1:00am, all was still pretty quiet, except I happened to run into two girls in two different towers who got locked out of their room, so I let them in and reminded them of the lockout policy, but since it was their first night back I did not charge them. There is still trash in the hallways but when I knocked on some more doors no one answered - I plan to mention NO TRASH in the hallways during my tower meeting. Overall, it was a good night, I was very nervous for my first on call but everything went smoothly!

On call 9/1 & 9/2
Sorry for the lateness but my on call went pretty smoothly. On Wednesday it was pretty quiet. Just hung out at the office for a while. My rounds was quiet. Talked to a few of my residents tho. They were very nice. Then.. on Thursday I just ended up hanging out in the lounge with my fellow RAs Elise and Anjila. We had a lovely fashion show and everything. Umm.. Then I did my rounds and went to sleep. Then at 5am I had to get up and recharge the phone in the office because it was out of battery. Then at 8am I was woken up by a resident who needed to check in. Mm.. other than that, everything went as planned.
Love,

My on call was very quiet. I hung out in the office till 9:02.54 and then did my first round and saw no one in the building. Then I headed back to the office to play more robot unicorn attack...http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html. My high score stands at 61,920. After I went on my second round to find some hooligans I told two rooms to close their doors because it was after quiet hours and they said sure and that I was the best RA ever and I replied I am the greatest of all time. Then I headed back to the office to hangout with Mike and play even more robot unicorn attack before my third round. After completing my third round I bumped into Rach-el and she comment on how good I looked under the moonlight...During my on call I also grew an appreciation for this new face via text messaging >_<

I saw a couple of the new residents on my first round and said hello to them ... they seemed nice. I saw one girl outside staring into the building. We came back 15 minutes later and she was still staring. She was really pale and I think she was chanting something under her breath. On my last round I went outside picked flowers for Rach-el. I was out there for about an hour ... at one point someone tried to jump me for my flowers but I said "no these are for Rach-el" and fought them off. Later on a pack of wolves tried to murder me but I beat them with my bare hands because I was determined to get the flowers to Rache-el. After I was done picking I finally brought the flowers to Rach-el. She proceeded to throw them off her balcony. She doesn't seem to appreciate me for who I am and who I want to be.

08/26/10
On my first round I stopped by Rach-el's room to hang out. All I wanted to do was stop by and say hello but she spit in my face and shut the door. I brushed it off as her having a bad night but then I stopped by again on my second round. She dragged me in the room and demanded I clip her toenails. After I finished my second round Rach-el texted me and said there was a ladybug in her room that we needed to kill. I brought Ryan for backup in case she spit in my face again. Once we got to the A-Tower staircase there were rose petals and chocolates leading all the way up the stairs to Rach-el's room. When we got there we could hear "Two Is Better Than One" blasting from inside her room. Candles were lit everywhere. Ryan felt uncomfortable so we decided to leave. On my third round I wanted to make sure everything was alright with Rach-el because I'm a caring and sensitive guy so I went to tell goodnight but she spit in my face and told me to never talk to her again. On my fourth round Ryan went to go get Subway. I went up to Rach-el's room to see if she wanted anything. She screamed "NO" and ran out of her room and proceeded to slash Ryan's tires and smash his windshields. On my fifth round Rach-el kept trying to get me to go outside to kill a skunk. I told her no, as it is clearly stated in the Resident Advisor manual section 9.3 paragraph 2 line 6 word 8 letter 2 just before the period that it is illegal to go outside while on call. Curious, I looked outside and Rach-el had caught the skunk and was eating it raw. Apparently she was in a good mood. Then on my sixth round Rach-el told me she wanted to go for a walk to talk about something. To my surprise, when I got outside there was a pack of wolves waiting for me. Rach-el laughed and locked me outside. Luckily, Ryan jumped off his balcony, sharpened a rock, then threw away the rock, and killed the wolves with his bare hands. We stopped to catch our breath. Ryan looked up and said "oh hey, look a full moon, how romantic." We called Rach-el to go outside but she immediately turned into a werewolf. We were faced with dilemma. Do we kill Rach-el or get eaten alive? Ryan was torn between the woman he loves and certain death. Not blinded by love, I quickly climbed a tree and tore down the larged branch I could find. Ryan helped me sharpen while Rach-el was terrorizing a schoolbus of preschoolers. Once the stake was complete Ryan gave me a boost and flew 20 feet in the air and stabbed Rach-el in the heart. Unfortunately she was able to pull it out and stabbed it through my leg. At this point I was fatally wounded and both Ryan and I were trapped in a corner. Thinking all was lost I took out my cell phone and called Shelly to tell her I wouldn't be able to make breakfast tomorrow morning. Before I could find her number a faint voice in the distance started humming "I Am the Tiger". The faint voice grew louder as Rach-el came in closer for the kill. I was starting to lose consciousness but then out of nowhere Cynthia peered off the fourth floor Aldrich balcony. We knew she only had one shot. Ryan gathered his strength and stood up for one final stand while Cynthia loaded her weapon, which happened to be a silver bullet missile with a heat-seeking attachment. Before making his final stand, he took a deep breath, not wanting to accept that his one true love had to be destroyed. He stood over me and said "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the day, saying, 'I will try again tomorrow'. I'm lost but I'm making good time. To accomplish great things, we must not always act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. I look at the world, and there is nothing to think ... nothing to say ... nothing to do ... nothing to feel ... but gratitude. Woe to the man whose heart has not learned while young to hope, to love ... and to put its trust in life. Farewell brother, cover my office hours tomorrow for me." Not wanting to wait for Cynthia to finish loading her heat-seeking silver bullet missile launcher before it may be too late, Ryan went in for the kill. The battle was glorious. Ryan faught admirably, but he was no match for Rach-el. Rach-el delivered one final, fatal blow and Ryan was knocked to the pavement, unconscious. He managed gather one final breath, wanting to finally reveal his true feelings for Rach-el, but before he could gather his strength Michael Lapointe came out of nowhere to take pictures. The series of flashes from the camera was enough to put Ryan in a coma. Rach-el, seeing that the battle had been won, turned to me. Knowing all was lost, I prepared for death. But then something strange happened. Rach-el, seeing what she had done, began to transform back into her human state. She quietly began sobbing, seeing what she had done. It seemed as if things were finally beginning to go back to normal and I could begin my seventh round. But then, Cynthia, not realizing Rach-el was already transforming back into her normal state, took the shot. Rach-el collapsed to the ground, nearing death. Before she took her final breath, she was able to mutter "But I always loved ...", but died before she could reveal who she truly loved. At this point I was really screwed, and Ryan and Rach-el were dead. Then out of nowhere a small toy fire truck came roaring down Lower College Road towards me. It stopped in front of me and a miniature Charles Hall appeared. He told me he could grant me four wishes, and then began telling me a story about how he used to teach at a Catholic boy's school. Having heard this story many times before, I cut him off and rubbed his fire truck. My first wish was for Ryan to come back to life. My second wish was for Rach-el to come back to life. My third wish was for myself to be healed. And my fourth wish was for a back massage from Elise. We all got back up and realized it was 9:55, almost time for Jersey Shore. Rach-el told us she'd meet us in the lounge because she needed to change her outfit for the fifth time today. On my final round I had to tell a couple residents to close their doors but other than that everything went pretty smoothly.
All in all, it was just another brick in the wall.

On Call 5/10
So my on call started out alright. It was pretty quiet and peaceful until just about 11-11:30ish. Around that time, A300B became quite loud and obnoxious. Since I was right under them, I could hear the noise from their room pretty well. At first I suspected they had alcohol and recruited the help of Ryan. We both went and listened, however, we weren't able to completely verify it was alcohol. Although we did not confront them about the alcohol, I still knocked on the door and told them to quiet down. When they opened the door, I did not see any beverages and dismissed it. Other than that, nothing else really happened.

On Call 5/2
Last night was quiet. During the office hour I gave out some trash bags, then did my bathroom checks. During my first couple of rounds I talked with some residents about random stuff. There were a few bags of trash and some stuff laying in A tower, so I addressed what I could there. The trash was never answered for. I had to shut a couple of doors, unprop A tower, and ask one room to keep the volume down after 11, but other than that it was a pretty easy evening. Less than 2 weeks left, last day of classes today!

On Call 4/28
Thank God no water fights on wed!! The building was very quiet. During My office hour we had our game night program and played the game things. It went well pretty funny. My rounds went well. I had a surprise waiting for me in A100 when I did my 11 round. One of the residents drew my picture accented with my name in big block letters on their door. Needless to say I found it histarical. He did a good job drawing it pretty sick! That was the highlight of the night.

Water fights have occurred in A300 last night as well as tonight. Please keep an eye out. Their argument was that no one warned them against these water fights. I've "officially" warned them so keep that in mind~

On Call 4/26
On call went well last night. The night started off with an interesting and fun program with Ryan. A fair amount of residents came and joined the destresser program. Everyone loved the candy and getting rid of their stress through hitting a pinata. It was quite amusing. Nothing much happened during my rounds. Everyone seemed pretty peachy. I did have to close one door and also asked some residents to take out their trash. Oh around 1am there was a lot of noise. It turned out to be boys running down the stairs carrying giant water guns. Well at least they were all outside, so no mess inside. Well other than that, nothing else really happened.

On Call 4/24 & 4/25
So here's a quick blog about this weekend's on call double header. Both nights were really pretty easy, the building was pretty quiet and under control. I didn't have to talk to anybody about anything really, and all the doors were shut the whole time. People are studying a bunch for this last week, so I think that that contributed to the quietness. Came into the office this morning and was quite surprised! Now off into the last week of classes, and then into finals. Heeerrreee we go.

On call 4/19
So Cynthia needed to switch on-calls so last night I was on call. During my office hour I gave out some toilet paper and had some residents stop by to say hello and talk for a little bit. It was a generally quiet night. During my first round the building was quiet not much going on. During my second round at 11 I had to ask 2 rooms to close doors. When I got back to my room I had someone come up to request toilet paper, when I went down to get it, I ended up giving some to 3 other residents as well who were passing by and also needed some. I think yesterday I gave out more toilet paper than I have given out all year. Earlier in the day during my office hour I had 4 people come within the hour for some. Anyways during my last round the building was sounding and looking good, when I ended on the first floor of A-tower I had a very funny conversation with the Asian students who live there. They proceeded to quiz me on what specific ethnicity each of them were and were giving me an Asian 101 lecture. haha it was beyond entertaining. On the first floor we have a 2 students who are a combination of Chinese and Cambodian, 1 who is full Cambodian, 1 who is Hmong and Cambodian, a Vietnamese and Chinese student from C tower who hangs out in a- tower. I am schooled now in how to determine what ethnicity's each Asian student is (they told me that their are lots of easy ways to tell). I absolutely enjoy all of the A100 students they are great!

On Call 4/14 &4/15
So I'm a complete loser and forgot to blog again!! Last wed and thursday were my on call nights. It was a pretty low key two nights on Wed I had nothing go on. It was pretty much quiet, had to close some doors but other than that it was all good. Thursday night was a lil bit more busy, I had a lock out at 11:30 and at 12:30 which is always fun. I spent some extra time in the office between 12-1 becuase a dance got let out and the building was getting loud when people were coming in so I figured it would be a better idea if they saw me so they knew I would be around if stuff was going on. I walked the building again at 1 and it was under control.

On Call 4/18
Not much going on last night. Made a couple of phone calls during the office hour and got some summer scheduling stuff done so that was good. Did bathroom checks after the office hour which were fine. Around 9:30 a couple of C tower residents came to my door and said that they lost power in their rooms and needed it to be fixed. I had no idea where the circuit breakers were so I ended up finding Ben and he showed me how to fix it. Rounds were pretty quiet, just had to shut a couple of doors, and A tower was again propped open. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a Sunday night.

On Call 4/17
Hey Guys,
I know its been a while, so may argue that it has been unacceptably wrong. However, if I'm on call and things seem good, I don't see a blog entry to be needed.
Last night was interesting. Two residents came to get TP during the office hour. I felt bad handing out such sand-paper like material. I also talked with a resident about how he had been pulled over for transporting alcohol...interesting
Rounds at 9, 10:30 and 12:30 were quiet. Around 11, Cynthia came to my door to inform me of some loud people in A300. We went down there and Cynthia really took control. I was impressed by her strong tone and level of intensity. It turned out that only 2 of the 6 people in the room went to URI. After the gathering was broken up, I wrote up warning forms to the two residents for their excessive noise past quiet hours.
Hope errbody is good,
Ben

On Call 4/9
So on call on friday was interesting. During my office hour I had one of my friends from another building come visit. We talked and I had a few lockouts that I needed to attend to. After my office hours, I went to my room. It was rather quiet during my rounds. Nothing really happened, except I did have to tell a few residents to quiet down. The interesting part came about when I woke up the next morning, I found shoes (specifically rainboots) all close to the window in A Tower of my floor. One seemed to be halfway pushed out of the window. Well I couldn't figure out whose shoes they were and they disappeared by Saturday afternoon. So other than that, everything was okay.

On Call 4/11
It was a little bit of a weird night, but not all too bad. The office hour was actually pretty busy, there was a lockout, a couple of people came for TP, and somebody came for condoms. After the office hour I went and did my bathroom checks, which were fine. My first round was silent, it was really weird how quiet the building was. During my second round, the hint of a certain plant substance was lingering around an area, so I got Cynthia to investigate. We determined where it was coming from, but didn't really have anything to go on, so we got Molly for a 3rd opinion. After checking it out further, we decided that we couldn't really do much for it, so I kept an eye on it. We chatted for a while, and by the time we were done it was time for round #3. During the last round I had to just tell a room to keep it down and a couple of other rooms to close their doors.

On Call 4/8
It was an OK evening in Aldrich. During the office hour Shelly and Cynthia were in the office and we hung out for a while. After the office hour, Cynthia helped me finish up the rest of my fire inspections then I went to my room. During the first round I had to deal with a bunch of trash, but got it taken care of. Then during my second round there was a lockout and I thought I smelled some illegal plant substances in C tower, so I got Cynthia to check it out, but when we got back the odor was gone... there was a guy standing in the hallway when I first passed through who wasn't there when we got back.. maybe it was him? Who knows, it was weird. Anyway, another lockout to start the 3rd round, and the C tower door was propped. It was quiet for most of the evening though, except for the huge crowds of people outside yelling every now and then. That gets real annoying real fast. Otherwise a good night.

On Call 4/7
Last night went well. Following my office hour I did a round and then began my fire inspections. It took a little long but went well. Once that was finished I went back to my room and then did my last two rounds. The building was pretty quiet I had to talk to a couple rooms to close doors. One of the funniest rooms I came across was two boys whose door is NEVER open. When I was doing my 11 round I went to tell them that the doors had to be closed and when I looked in the two of them were in their beds completely sheltered by blankets. I asked them what was going on and that they had to close the door and the proceeded to tell me that they saw a mosquito in the room. They said they were waiting for it to leave so they were covered for protection from getting bit. One of the boys then admitted to me that they are afraid of bugs. I told them they could keep the door open for a couple more minutes but then they had to close it. Needless to say I laughed hysterically when I walked away it was definitely a funny scenario. It was a good night!

On Call 4/3/10
Saturday Nights on call was eerie how quiet it was. The building probably had only 6 rooms with people in them. I couldn't believe how many people ended up going home. Needless to say nothing happened during my office hour I made a new bulletin board and updated the birthday board for April. Other than that my rounds were a breeze no one was around to have to talk to and nothing came up. Easiest Saturday night to date! Hope everyone had a nice Easter!
On Call 4/2
Sorry about the delay but my on call went pretty well. Nothing really happened during my rounds, but I did find some noisy girls in the stairwell and asked them to be quiet. Prior to that I heard a fire alarm go off in a room and ran over. It turned out they burnt their rug with a hair straightener. Told them to keep fanning and luckily the alarm went off before the building's alarm went on. Other than that, my night went well. ^_^

On Call 4/4
Yet another Sunday evening gone by. To kick things off was a lockout during the office hours, then quiet office hours from then on out. After that I did my bathroom checks, which were all good. Then someone from C tower came to my room and asked to borrow the cleaning supplies, so I got those. I went back to my room and did Spanish hw. Rounds were quiet, C tower was propped during the first one. Also during the first round, the 3rd floor of B tower smelled like something was burning, so I got Molly and we asked the residents in the area if they knew what was up. Nobody knew, and it eventually just went away. That's all the big stuff.

On Call 3/28

On Call 3/14
The evening began with a lovely BBQ dinner at the Oak Hill Tavern, which was delicious. Got back to Aldrich right around 8, so I just stayed in the office. The computer wasn't working so I got my guitar and played for a while in the office. After the office hour, I went and did my bathroom checks, then saw Marcin and Molly and hung out with them for a while. Rounds weren't bad, had to just tell a couple of rooms to quiet down after 11. Then I had a lockout around 9 this morning.

On Call 3/13
Last night was quite interesting. Overall it was extremely quiet. I barely saw anyone pass the office during my office hours. It was very very windy last night and was afraid that the building would lose power again. And guess what? I was right.. well a little right.. The building loss power for about 30 seconds last night at around 2am. It was a little freaky because it kind of slowly blinked out.. But then the rest of the night was fine. ^^ happy pi day

On Call 3/11
The office hour was quiet for the most part, but I saw a lot of people coming into the building who I didn't recognize so I got a bit worried about what was to come for the evening, being a Thursday evening and the reputation those have seemed to hold thus far. Overall, though, it was fairly quiet. After my office hour I was in my room and Cynthia stopped by to grab some condoms since her residents had cleaned her out. During my rounds I saw a big basket of flowers in the B401 suite and talked to the residents there for a while about it, it is quite a lovely arrangement if you get the chance to see it. During my second round, some people in A tower had their door open and were playing cards and gambling with loose change, so I had to tell them that they couldn't be gambling. I gave out some TP to somebody who caught me in the lounge during my rounds also. Then on my 3rd round I had to just tell a few rooms to keep the volume levels down and shut a door. After my 3rd round, a couple of my residents knocked on my door around 12:30 saying that a group of people came through their suite and started banging on doors and ran into the A400 suite. I went and checked it out but it was pretty quiet over there, so I talked to the residents about it and calmed them down, since they were mildly heated. After this I completed my Spanish presentation and hit the hay. The phone rang about 9:45 this morning, but when I picked it up it was just a dial tone.

3/11/10
I must start off by saying how happy I am that I am remembering to do this in a timely fashion! Last nights on call was the usual wed. night. Not much was going on. During my 11 o'clock round I had to talk to a couple rooms to close doors. I did another round around 12 and the building was quiet. I saw the study room door propped open so I took a look in and visited with about 8 residents who were in there doing some homework. That ended another Wednesday night on-call.

Well now that I actually remembered... Friday nights on call went pretty well, no one was really around during my office hour, and the building was really quiet during my first round. During my 11 round I had to tell a room in A tower to get rid of a large amount of trash they had just left in the hall way. The girl listened to me and removed it immediately. During another round at about 12 I had one room with their door open. I just went to them and told them it needed to be closed. Other than that everything went well.

Other than that nothing really went on was able to get some homework done so thats always good.

Happy March ^_^
So on call last night went well. I was very productive during my office hour and finished my bulletin board. A few residents came in for toilet paper. After my office hours I went to give the gift cards to the residents that won in taboo night. During my rounds I bumped into a few residents that took the same class as me and asked about notes and such. Then I remembered that I forgot to get the supplemental instruction sheet from last week. Other than that, everything went smoothly. It was a pretty typical, quiet Monday.

I really can't get over how quiet last night was in the building, it feel like more than half of the building like dissappeared for the weekend, which is always nice. I ended up going to my office hour a lil early and stayed for about two hours so I could update the events calander for March and post a new birthday bulletin board for March Birthdays. Residents kept stopping by and saying hello as they passed through and I had a visit from Ryan and Cynthia. My rounds were really quiet as usual no activity going on in the building at all. All in all it was a good friday night on call.

That was pretty much the extent of the night another successful evening in Aldrich.

My on call night went pretty well. During office hours Ryan and I held our Taboo Night program. Overall, the program was pretty successful since we did have several participants. My rounds were alright. Nice and quiet, however, around 12 the building was hit by a silent but deadly smell >_< A skunk sprayed probably nearby and it smelled like skunk for a little while. I must say, it was pretty gross. Other than that, everything went well.

On Call 2/17 & 2/18
So again I forgot to post a blog for my on calls, the good news is I wrote posting promptly as one of my goals on my evaluation so hopefully I will begin to remember. Anyways, so last Wednesday and Thursday were very quiet on calls. I had nothing out of the ordinary go on for my office hours. Gave out some toilet paper had to ask for some doors to be closed during the 11 o'clock hours. On my Wednesday night on call I had a resident come to my room really concerned about the fact that she had just gone through the interviewing process to become an RA for next year and on the day when she went to sign up for interview times, she was never instructed to sign up for the individual interview so in turn when the interview times happened she only went to a group interview. She ended up finding out after the fact that other people went to individual interviews. Anyways I told her to be optimistic and told her I would pass along that she was concerned and followed up to see if anything could be done to help her problem. During my office hours for my Thursday night on call we had the fitness program led by Ben and Marcin. While it did not start out with a bang orignially because of the lack of people in attendance, it ended well. I think Ben and Marcin did a phenomenal job and it was a good program. So now that I have written an essay length of a blog I will stop. And I will DEFINITELY remember to blog on Wednesday after my next on call. ...lets hope :)

Another fairly quiet evening. Somebody stopped by in the OH for some TP again, and Ben came in for a sponge because some hooligans drew on his car with window paint. I left the office and did the bathroom checks, then waited a while and did my first round. Upon approaching the upper levels of A Tower, there was a distinct odor in the air so I went and fetched Ben to check it out. Neither of us could tell where it was coming from or who was responsible for it, so I just kept an eye on things throughout the rest of the evening. The other rounds were quiet and easy.

Hey Friends,
Last night was pretty quiet. Around 12, a resident from C-Tower came requesting a penis blanket, I mean, a condom. I gave him the goods and he went on his merry way to potentially fornicate =)
I was expecting to find the A-Tower door propped, but to my dismay it twas not. I saw Molly come back which was nice, even though she really didn't feel like talking =(
Enjoy the weekend homies

On Call 2/11
Well folks, it was a pretty quiet night, which was weird, because this is the first Thursday night this semester where the building did not turn into a jungle. During the office hour I handed out some TP, and someone came and moved into A400's, so I hooked him up with a key and filled out his RCR and such. Rounds were really quiet, but the light on the second floor of the B tower stairwell was pretty much out and doing a slow-flicker kind of deal which was really creepy. I thought for sure that a zombie was going to pop out from one of the suites to get me. Luckily John has fixed the problem today, so no more zombies in Aldrich. Also, this is probably irrelevant, but C tower smelled like mustard all night. I don't know why. The A tower door was propped again, so I dealt with that... had to close a couple of doors after 11 and deal with a bag of trash in the hallway but aside from those small inconveniences the building was quiet and everything went pretty smoothly.

On call February 10
Last nights on-call went very smoothly. My office hour was for the most part quiet updated some white boards for programs and what not. Ryan swung by to report a leak in his room, which I concluded was weather related but then realized he wasn't on the top floor. When I was leaving my office hour I talked to a bunch of residents who were coming back in from the basketball game after such a disappointing loss. I did also take note at this time that a lot of people were coming into the building. Lots of residents had friends with them. This made me a little bit nervous about what kind of events would be taking place for the night, but luckily not a thing happened. During one of my rounds I noticed another leak in the building on the fourth floor of A tower in the stairwell, which wasn't anything major just a slow drip. This time I know it was def from the moisture on the roof getting in and dripping around the pipe. I put it into get it for someone to take a look at today. Other than that my rounds went well had to have some doors closed at 11, and talked to some residents about how they enjoyed the snow day. I think everyone agreed that it was a nice unexpected break. I really was hoping for another today, but its nice to dream. Back to reality, praying I don't wipe out too badly today on the ice covered campus.

Last night's on call went well. No one came in to visit during office hours. During one of my rounds, I happened to hear rather loud yelling noises. On Call 2/7
So last night was the Superbowl, and let me just start off by saying: what a game. I must say, however, and some of my residents agreed with me, that the commercials this year were sub-par. Nothing too out of the ordinary or entertaining, which was a big let down. The office hour was really quiet, I handed out a few rolls of toilet paper. Also, I saw that there was a message on the phone so I checked it, and it was the campus police dispatcher who had called earlier that morning and wanted a call returned, so I called x2121 to see what was up. The dispatcher at that point couldn't find anything too serious in the log, so he said it must have just been that they wanted some cars moved from out of the front of the building. After this I got back to watching the game. I decided that I would just watch the entire second half in the office because I did not feel like going back up to my room yet. So I did. Once the game was over, I went back up to my room and did bathroom checks. Rounds were uneventful, had to talk to just a couple of rooms in A tower about noise later on. I had a lockout at about 11, did my last round at 12:15 or so, then fell into slumber.
-Spiz
PS. Also during my office hour I tried logging into deskstaff to check all my residents in, but it seems to be down. Just tried again and it is still down/not operational. Just a heads up.

On Call February 6
So I am a total space cadet and forgot to post a blog for my on call on Wed. The good news is you didn't miss anything because not a thing went on. Last night however was a different story. My office hour was dead. My first round was also very quiet. I got a phone call at about 9:45 for a lock out, so I went and handled that. At about 11 I was about to go do my next round when I heard a very loud constant banging on a door, and a girl legitimately screaming at the top of her lungs not very nice things and for someone to open the door. I ran out of my room quick around the corner and found two of my female residents both crying, but one literally sobbing in the middle of an anxiety attack. Her whole body was shaking, and when she saw me she started crying harder and hugged me when I asked her if everything was ok. I told them to step away from the other persons door and they followed me out to the hall way that connects b tower to c tower. The girls started to tell me what was wrong but they were really worked up, very distraught and loud so I told them to come into my room to talk. I felt really bad for them, I gave them both tissues and told them to just take some deep breaths and calm down. The girls sat on my bed for about an hour or so and I let them vent about what was going on. They were in the middle of a he said she said argument with one of their close friends and another boy who is my resident. I talked the girls down and tried to give them some advice. When they finally got everything out I told them that it would be best to just sleep on it and wake up tomorrow with a clear mind about their situation. They were extremely appreciative for my help and I sent them off with one of my DVD's to borrow to just watch and relax for the rest of the night. After they left it was about 12:30 and I did a round and the building was quiet. I went back to my room finished up my homework and did a third round at about 1:30 before I went to bed. It was a strange night. I checked in on the girls this morning and they definitely have a clearer mind today and are handling their argument much more calmer.

Other than that, everything went smoothly.

On Call 2/4
Yo, so last night was eventful
During the tail end of my office hour, Spiz stopped by and needed my assistance with completion of fire inspections. We arrived at B400B to do the inspection but were struck by the odor of marijuana. Upon entering the room, the smell was obvious and the resident knew it. To make a long story short, the resident and 3 other lady friends were toking up on the balcony and Spiz and I wrote them up.
While writing up the narrative, I shut the power off on the computer so we had to re-write it. A resident from C401 came to the office and remarked that her toilet was overflowing and Spiz took care of that
I returned to my room and did some reading. Just before midnight the fire alarm went off because some girls were lighting birthday candles and apparently they produced dangerous amounts of smoke...regardless, the fire trucks eventually showed up and I went back to my room. Got washed up and noticed I missed calls from Molly. He toilet was also having difficulties and she smelled pot at the bottom of B-Tower. I checked out the bottom of b-tower but there were no signs as to where the smell was coming from, it must have lingered. After a quick check with Molly, I finished my last round and went to bed around 1.
Love, Ben

On Call 2/1
It was a quiet night, nothing really to report. Handed out a lot of toilet paper though.

On Call 2/2
Hey Y'all
Last night was cute. Spiz came to my cave and told me that a resident remarked on the smell of pot in his suite. We ventured down to B300 to check things out. The hallway spelt quite dank yet we were unsure as to which room the smell was coming from. We checked in with Marcin and agreed that there wasn't enough dirt (i.e. seeing a high resident and actually hearing them talk about being high etc) to enter a specific room. I recommend keeping an eye on the area and seeing if things are more obvious than they appeared last night. Otherwise, things seemed quiet.

On Call 1/31
Another really quiet night in Aldrich. During the office hour I handed out some toilet paper. After the office hour I went and did my bathroom checks and reminded the rooms that still hadn't written their names on the sheet to do so. Rounds were uneventful, done at 10, 11:30, and 12:10. Just had to ask a few rooms to shut their doors after 11. A tower door was propped again with the trash can from the bathroom, then with a bottle cap, so those were removed. That's about it for the evening.

On Call 1/30
Last night was really quiet. Office hour was silent, and I probably only saw like 4 people the entire evening. At about 9:45 the phone rang and a C tower resident was locked out because her card wasn't swiping so I came and let her in, and a bit later one of my residents asked if I could look at her door since it doesn't unlock very easily. Aside from these exciting events, everything else was quiet and calm.

On call January 29th
The night began pretty quiet, I spent the office hour fixing the white board with the calendar that someone had so nicely erased the night before. During this time a resident came down and was looking for a space heater, she said her room was extremely and abnormaly cold and that her radiator must be broken. I got her a heater and then went with her to her room to see if it was in fact broken or what. Turns out she was right the room was very cold and not heat came from the radiator. Shortly after I returned back to the office to put her problem in get it, the URI dispatcher called to see if Aldrich had any heat because other buildings were without. I began my first night at 9:20ish and spoke to some residents as I passed them in the halls. During my 11 round I had to knock on some doors for noise issues. My 12 round went smooth nothing to really report from that hour.

On Call 1/28
I think that Thursday on call was one of the most wildest on call nights so far. So my night began well with my office hour. No one really came or needed anything so it was peaceful. My rounds went well. During my second round around 11, there were these group of kids that were hanging around the stairwell and ping pong table area around A tower. I asked them if they were alright and they said they were just waiting for some friends. Next, I retired to my room and my next round at 12 ish was quiet. At around 1:30, it became extremely loud and there were people screaming so I went to check it out. I asked them to please be quiet, especially since it was 1 30 in the morning and told them that if I have to ask them again, I would write them up. At 2am, Valerie came up to me and asked me to unlock her door. While I was making my way down to the office, I found this blond girl dressed in quite revealing cloths, trying to make her way up the stairs. She looked like she was quite intoxicated and I asked if she needed any assistance. She said no so I let her make her way upstairs. I went and go the key. When I returned to the B-tower stairwell, she barely moved. So I quickly went to unlock the door and came back. Now, she disappeared. Quite worried, I searched around the whole building for this girl but couldn't find her. Retiring back to my room, the rest of the night was quiet and nothing too bizarre happened.

On Call January 27
-Not really too bad of a night for my first night on call for the semester. My office hour was pretty quiet I gave out toilet paper as usual. I spoke to girls in A tower about trash in the hall and they had to remove it. And then had to ask some people to close doors at 11. Other than that all 3 of my rounds went well. I spoke to some students as I passed them and had one girl ask me some questions about applying for a job as a RAM for next year.

On Call 1/26
Hey guys,
Things were quiet for the most part last night. My neighbors were watching some movie in a semi-loud manner but quieted down before 11. Otherwise, rounds were uneventful.

On Call 1/25
So last night went pretty smoothly. I pretty much just stopped by my resident's dorms and said hello and asked them how their break went. There was nothing to report.

On Call 1/24
First day of classes... oh boy. Anyway, last night wasn't all that bad. During the office hour someone came and grabbed the broom, and that was the extent of action there. I saw a few bags of trash during my rounds, and did what I could about them. Most people were easy going about it. Also, later on, there were a few open doors and noisy rooms that needed dealing with, but they were also easy about it. During my second round the A tower door was propped with a bag of trash that had something inside which was rotting. The entire bottom of A tower smelled HORRIBLE. It was a mixture of bad perfume, sewage, and really old Chinese food. That's what I thought, at least. So I kicked it outside the door and unpropped it, but when I came back around for the 3rd round it was there again propping the door with ANOTHER bag of garbage. At this point I just took it out to the dumpster, because it was stinking up the stairwell something fierce. Aside from that, it was a fairly normal evening.
Hope everyone is glad to be back!
